How does the Author of “The Brothers Karamazov” Attempt to Obfuscate the Reader on Dmitri’s Innocence?

We're always trying to find justice within our life, we try to keep faith in God and remain human in all our actions. The overriding point is that people are very different and very frequently their behavior and deeds cannot be entirely conscious and controlled as a result of features of characters and the nearby atmosphere. It indicates that each people struggles to be loved, to fit in the society, be understood and accepted. Still, the world plays the violent game and presents us with the obstacles and challenges we're supposed to over come. “The Brothers Karamazov” could be the story of the big family which lost its values, respect, and love. Still, mcdougal intends to obfuscate their actions, attempts to show the causes for such behavior and the consequences of it.

The very first point to make is to suggest that all the brothers seem to be the incarnations of the humankind in general. To be more precise, their lives is the constant fight for the recognition, love, and fairness nevertheless the means of this battle are various. For many of them, money is the goal, for the others their personal life, for the rest the religion. The story relates to the deepest moral questions; it concerns the issues of a person’s free will and responsibility, the individual choice and identity.

Probably one of the most interesting and complicated characters in “The Brothers Karamazov” is Dmitri Karamazov. He's the oldest Fyodor’s son from the initial marriage and seems to be the personality of difficult axioms, the questionable actions and at the same time good intentions. You should mention that during the whole story the writer tries to obfuscate Dmitri’s behavior and especially his innocence. To be more specific, while reading it is difficult to start to see the real attitude to this hero, to say correctly whether he's protagonist or antagonist. Dmitri Karamazov may be the struggle of two axioms. “And that he also feels a tenderness such as he's got never known before urging up in his heart, he really wants to weep, that he wants to take action for all of them, so that the wee one won't cry. […] And his whole heart blazed up and turned toward some type of light, and he wished to live and live”(Dostoyevsky). The main point is that all his actions were the cause of other people’s putting up with, their tragedies, and broken destinies. More over, Dmitri appears to feel content with others’ ruined lives, that he pursues his aims and sometimes is ready to walk all over people. At the same time that he realizes the duty of his deeds, he's willing to respond because knows his dubious character. “Forgive me, Grusha, for my love, that I’ve ruined you, too, with my love! ” (Dostoyevsky). Dmitriy admits that his behavior and choices in life bring the suffering, they destroy the lives of individuals whom that he seems to love somewhere deep in the center.

More over, the reader must spot the emotional state of the primary character that in many situations goes to the extremes. Mainly this unbalanced mind and inability to regulate one’s feelings resulted in the impossibility in order to avoid the closest people’s putting up with. The author still tries to justify Dmitri because of his complicated character. It is not surprising since looking deeper in to the hero’s life we may even sympathize with him and feel sorry(Belknap 136). Among the reasons for such attitude is that insufficient father’s love which was so necessary for all of the brothers and which non-e of them achieved. Dmitriy’s insufficient father finished up in his crazy behavior and aggressiveness. “But Dmitri raised both of your hands and suddenly seized the old man by both surviving wisps of hair on his temples, pulled, and smashed him contrary to the floor” (Dostoyevsky 265). All of the brothers never experienced the notions of family units and father’s responsibility that's the reason each of them constructed their image of the safe and dignified life. Still, Dmitriy is not guilty in having such character; he is person who tries to be human through the whole story but cannot overcome the sinful nature. “Because I’m a Karamazov. Because when I fall into the abyss, I go directly into it, head down and heels up, and I’m even pleased that I’m falling in only such a humiliating position, and for me, I find it beautiful” (Dostoyevsky 389). For instance, when he promised Katerina to provide money to her ill father, once the moment comes he refuses. “…and the unworthy one will disappear down his right back lane – his dirty back lane, his beloved, his befitting back lane, and there, in filth and stench, will perish of their own free will, and revel in it” (Dostoyevsky 345).

Dostoevsky presents us with the image of personality who challenge the essence given him from the birth. He obfuscates Dmitri’s innocence because we cannot claim he's guilty at all. The individual does not choose their character but can try to change in for the higher what Dmitri Karamazov struggles to do. That he wanted to kill his father but altered one’s mind, perhaps that he could beat to the pulp, that he could freely offend someone and betray, but that he was not in a position to kill. “…believe God and me: I'm not guilty of the blood of my dad who was killed last night! ”(Dostoyevsky 580).

Mcdougal does not express the particular attitude to Dmitri because that he aims to really make the reader define whether he's innocent or not. For that goal, Dostoevsky doesn't give any excuses aswell the accusations. The only thing that he provides us with could be the difficult personality, the suspicious individual’s behavior which is apparently lost in one’s intentions. To be much more precise, here we can talk about the human falling values, the inability to know one’s nature and to select the only way in life. “I accept punishment perhaps not because I killed him, but because I wanted to kill him, and might well have killed him…But nevertheless I want to fight you, and I’m letting you know it” (Dostoyevsky 592).

The story dwells upon the household who lost on their axioms, values which led to the ruination of love, respect and altered it in to the desire to kill and vanish. All in all, Dmitri remains probably one of the most controversial characters whose intentions to be kind ended up being crucial for folks he loved. Still, the Dostoyevsky proved that the human essence is unpredictable and very usually we are maybe not in charge of the results.
